Field Trip Alternative

Link to Materials

This alternative instructional packet was designed to provide equitable, standards-aligned learning opportunities for students remaining at school during our annual 5th grade field trip to Greenfield Village and Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. In alignment with Michigan expectations for equal educational access, the curriculum ensured that students not attending the trip still participated in meaningful, engaging instruction connected to the same themes and concepts explored by their peers.

Through museum-inspired videos, engineering challenges, historical analysis, interactive activities, and themed math enrichment, students explored innovation, transportation, problem-solving, and the impact of inventions on society. The lessons mirrored the inquiry-based learning experiences connected to our school’s annual 5th grade Greenfield Village trip while integrating literacy, social studies, science, and math standards in an engaging and accessible format.
